Comparison of Canon HF G10 and Sony Handycam HDR-CX700V

There are a variety of features to look at when it comes to image and video quality. Some of the things to consider are the zoom, still camera resolution, focal length, LUX rating and recording speed. All of these features combined make sure that you get a quality image in whatever lighting or position you may be standing.
Canon HF G10 Comparison
We enjoyed many of the updates initiated by Sony on the HDR-CX700V, but the truth is, we liked the updates made by Canon on its new Vixia HF G10 even more. Canon tried out a new sensor system on the HF G10 that uses a smaller concentration of pixels on its CMOS imager. The idea paid off, as the HF G10 currently sits atop our rankings as the best camcorder for low light videography. This new sensor system did force the G10 to take a hit in other categories, particularly still image performance, but we felt the benefits in low light far outweighed the camcorder’s detriments elsewhere.
The big feature the HF G10 lacks, however, is a Full HD 1080/60p record mode. Canon, who has long been known as the king of multiple frame rate options, has yet to offer a 60p record mode on any of its consumer camcorders. The HF G10 does have a PF24, PF30, and 24p record mode, though, so it is not without options. The fact that Sony finally got around to offering multiple frame rates this year on the CX700V is very exciting, and it gives consumers who are looking for 24p recording more options.
Canon also wins the battle in terms of handling and controls. The HF G10 has more control options, a better designed lens ring, and the body of the camcorder feels more rugged and professional. The Sony HDR-CX700V is no chump when it comes to controls, but its poorly-designed adjustment dial and lack of advanced controls would probably not satisfy a professional or prosumer videographer.
The competition here is close, particularly because Sony implemented so many long-awaited features on the new HDR-CX700V, but the Canon HF G10 is still the better product for someone looking for a professional-grade camcorder. The Sony HDR-CX700V may be the better choice if you are a more novice camcorder user, but you still want access to top-level image quality. We also love that the CX700V can record standard definition video if you want to (in addition to HD). This makes it a great “bridge” model for those who want to shoot in both formats.

MOD is a computer file format used primarily to represent music, and was the first module file format. MOD files use the “.MOD” file extension, except on the Amiga where the original trackers instead use a “mod.” prefix scheme, e.g. “mod.echoing”. A MOD file contains a set of instruments in the form of samples, a number of patterns indicating how and when the samples are to be played.

MOD and TOD are informal names of tapeless video formats used by JVC (MOD and TOD), Panasonic (MOD only) and Canon (MOD only) in some models of digital camcorders. Format names correspond to extensions of video files. Neither JVC nor Panasonic, who pioneered the format, explained meaning of the file extensions, and the formats were never given an official name. MOD is used exclusively for standard definition video files, while TOD is used for high definition files. Both MOD and TOD are file-based formats that are stored on a random-access media.

JVC was the only supporter of TOD format. In 2008 JVC released several hybrid TOD/AVCHD consumer models, and some AVCHD only models. Consumer high definition camcorders offered by JVC since 2009 record only in AVCHD format. Professional JVC tapeless camcorders, introduced in 2009, use XDCAM EX format, licensed from Sony. Like TOD, XDCAM EX employs MPEG-2 HD codec. Unlike TOD, XDCAM EX is widely used in professional video. As of 2009, MOD format is still being used in standard definition camcorders manufactured by JVC, Panasonic and Canon.

What should you notice when you buying a Digital Camcorder

The questions that you may ask to learn more:

1: Which media?
In other words: what does the camcorder record its video to? This is the most fundamental way to classify camcorders. The most popular media is MiniDV, little cassettes that are the media of choice. MiniDV records the highest quality video in the consumer market because there is virtually no compression – the squeezing that can occur to data between captured and conversion into a readable file. After you have known what does the camcorder record its video to that you can know how to playback video on mac or windows pc.

2: Expandable battery?
Camcorders run out of juice sooner than you expect, and included batteries don’t last much longer than an hour, generally. We always recommend carrying a backup battery, but another solution is to purchase an additional battery that’s designed to provide longer life.

3: Manual control?
Manual controls, to put it simply, are any controls that change the way the video is recorded. Some camcorders offers a setting for complete manual control, meaning you have authority over all the typical settings: white balance, aperture (exposure), shutter speed, focus, and gain. Other camcorders have "priority" modes, which hand over the reigns on one control at a time and automatically correct the rest according to your adjustments. Often there is one priority mode for aperture and another for shutter speed.

One of the most important controls is manual white balance. What is manual white balance? It’s the ability to tell the camcorder’s chip what the color white should look like in any given environment. By pointing it at a white surface and telling it, "This is white," the chip can then calibrate the other colors. White balancing improves color reproduction. Without it, you’re stuck with a potentially inferior automatic white balance.

Other manual controls allow you to adjust how much light is allowed into the lens. Aperture controls the light by literally narrowing the opening it shines into, and shutter speed (you guessed it) changes the speed of the shutter. Closing it every 1/2 second is extremely slow and lets in a great deal of light, while 1/2000 is quite fast. Some camcorders will offer gain control. Gain is a digital boost to the incoming signal. Increasing the signal will brighten the image, but will also increase the noise in that signal. Panasonic camcorders historically offer the best manual control options in the consumer range.

4: How’s the auto mode?

Not all auto modes are created equal. Some camcorders permit users to still change a few settings in auto mode. Do you want your auto mode to be totally foolproof and keep you from accidentally changing anything, or do you want to be able to tweak a little? See what you can change in it. You might be perfectly happy with your machine’s auto mode and never want to move beyond it, or you might find it too limiting while the advanced modes are too overwhelming, and never wind up using the camcorder at all. Get a feel for the auto mode to see if it’s a setting you’re comfortable learning in.

5: What ports does it have?

Most camcorders should have at least two ports, or places to connect cables to: a USB port, for digitally transferring footage to your computer, and an A/V port, for transferring footage with the old analog method that televisions use. MiniDV camcorders will also have a DV (digital video) port. The camcorder you’re after probably has a few other ports as well.

Some camcorders will have a composite port, which is basically an A/V port in a different shape that takes a different type of cable, one that has one plug going into the camcorder but breaks into three plugs coming out: two for audio and one for video. An S-Video port is also like an A/V port, but better; it separates the data into more channels and thereby provides a clearer picture. Some camcorders will have a port for flash media dedicated to capturing still photos. Some will have a fixture on the top called a shoe, designed for holding accessories like lights and microphones. A hot shoe (as opposed to a cold shoe) enables communication between the two devices directly, instead of having to use a cord, as well.

6: How about the model above? Below?
Here’s a dirty little secret of the camcorder industry: frequently, models in the same line will have very few differences between them, and those that are there are superficial. Often two or three models together in a lineup will have the same sized imager and same type of processor inside, and therefore produce video that looks nearly indistinguishable. It’s like selling two versions of a car that have the same engine, but one lacks air conditioning and a sun roof; only the whistles and bells differ—the next camcorder model down may have a little less optical zoom, a shoe that’s cold rather than hot, and a port or two less. But those superficial differences can spell at least $100, maybe $200, in additional costs for you.

7: Accessories?
Though the salesperson might stumble on your other questions, depending on her level of camcorder knowledge, this should be an easy question for her to answer. Salespeople are expected to sell, and if you hint that there are other things you want to buy, they should be happy to list them for you.

Listen carefully. The list of accessories shouldn’t affect your decision to purchase a particular camcorder, but you should still be aware of what’s out there. Why? That new camcorder is merely the centerpiece of your upcoming technological entourage. You’ll probably need to buy media for it, like MiniDV tapes or DVD discs; you might want a camera bag, a tripod for steadier shots, a white balance card, accessory lenses… you get the idea. You might not be buying this stuff now, but you probably will someday, and you should inform yourself of what’s ahead. (Read more about buying accessories here.)

8: What is your return policy?
It might not be camcorder related, but it’s an important question to ask. Suppose you do buy that gleaming beguiling cam and take it home, but find out it’s not everything you dreamed it would be—or it turns out that your bratty brother wanted more games for his PS2 instead. Fancy an $800 paperweight? We didn’t think so. Before it comes to this, make sure that the retailer will permit you to return your camcorder; if it’s part of a special sale, they may not take it back. Or they may only give you store credit in exchange instead of cash, or there may be a time limit on returns.

9: Can I see that thing for a second?
This is a vital and frequently overlooked step to take before handing over the credit card. The person who receives this gift will spend a lot of time holding it. You should try holding it, too. Make sure that little machine handles as good as it looks. Are the buttons and switches easy to reach? Are they big enough? Does the camcorder feel balanced? Is it light enough? Can you find your way around the menus on the LCD screen without the Rosetta Stone? Your potential purchase needs to feel at home in your hands, and besides, you can tell a lot about a camcorder just by fiddling around with it—how durable it feels, if it’s designed well, whether or not the zoom toggle functions smoothly. Play with it until you’re satisfied you have a feel for the model. Don’t let the salesperson rush you. They’re getting paid to be there. You may also want to handle a few other models you aren’t even interested in, just to get a sense of what feels right and what you’re looking for.

10: Can you put this aside?
We know, we know. You’ve found the camcorder of your wildest dreams, and you can’t wait to whisk it away. But you really should. You haven’t fully checked out your prospective purchase yet, and there’s only so much you can learn from a trip to the store. So now what?

Go back home and look through the CamcorderInfo.com reviews or reviews form other websites. On our site we test cams for color accuracy, resolution, and low light performance, in both video and stills (if the camcorder can take them), and sometimes the camcorder that has a fine-looking picture on the LCD screen will produce dark grainy video on a real monitor. Trust us, you’ll be glad you checked.

And besides, it’s always a good idea to take a step back and think before making any major purchase. For some of us, even a low-end camcorder costs a lot of money. True, you can always return it if you’ve educated yourself about the store’s return policy, but it’s less hassle to avoid an ill-advised purchase in the first place than it is to undo it. So take some time and spend the evening dreaming about that special camcorder. If you still want and respect it in the morning, you know where to find it.

Wholesale Android Tablets in the world

Want the best Google Android tablet pc? Android tablet are cropping up every time you blink at the moment, let’s see what the current best Android tablets are.

1. Sony Tablet S
Best Android tablet for: PlayStation gaming
The Sony Tablet S has a unique wedge-shaped design and top-end specs. It's a very decent and refined tablet, and has the unique feature of having access to original PlayStation games. The only issue is that it's not as tidy as the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and not as versatile as the Transformer. Apart from that, it's one of the best Android tablets out there.

2. Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
Best Android tablet for: the out-and-out tablet experience
The Galaxy Tab 10.1 offers a direct alternative to Apple's iPad 2. Sporting the Tegra 2 dual-core CPU, it's both marginally thinner and lighter than the iPad 2. This is some achievement, especially when you consider the fuss Apple made about how thin and light the iPad 2 was on launch. If you want an iPad-like tablet that's not an iPad, this is the one. The prices are the same as the iPad 2, so it's a straight shoot-out on features.

3. Asus Eee Pad Transformer
Best Android tablet PC for: replacing your netbook
The Asus Eee Pad Transformer is a low-price, quality Honeycomb tablet with useful options. Not only is it powerful and well featured, it's designed to work with a keyboard dock which turns it into a fully-fledged Android-powered netbook. The fact is that Android as an OS is still lagging behind iOS in terms of tablet usability, so products need a USP.And on that score, this is the tablet that changed the game. Look out also for the Asus Eee Pad Slider which comes packing a slide-out keyboard - it's coming soon and promises great things!

4. Motorola Xoom
Best Android tablet for: sleek good looks and solid performance
The Motorola Xoom was the first Honeycomb tablet to hit the shelves. Current prices are starting at about £330, which is great value for a 10-inch tablet of this calibre and it's thus worthy of your attention. Solid build quality, decent battery life, good performance.

5. Toshiba AT100 / Thrive
Best Android tablet for: anyone who wants a full-size HDMI port
There's a predicament with the Toshiba AT100: it has a certain appeal for advanced users who'll appreciate the slick performance, but the bulky size is a major problem. One brilliant move was to make the USB and HDMI ports full size. You can just unplug your Xbox and snap in the Toshiba AT100 when you want to watch on an HD TV. The tablet enables you to plug in a regular keyboard and mouse – this ease of adding peripherals is a win. Battery life is another bonus. Yet, the hefty size and weight (plus the passable screen quality) is the main reason we prefer other recent tablets.

Conclusion:
No matter which Android tablet you want to buy or you have owned, if you want to play video on Android Tablet smoothly, you need to convert video to Android Tablet on macMP4 video format, there is a highly rated Android Tablet converter for mac for you to choose.

Kindle Fire or iPad 2, which one should I buy?

Like Apple, Amazon has paired the Kindle Fire with a complete end-to-end media solution. Users can buy apps, books, music and video files all from one account and one interface.
In the article, I would to share my accumulated information about these two devices.
At first, let's take a quick look at the side-by-side comparison between them.

From http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2393737,00.asp
Display
The first difference consumers will notice about the Kindle Fire and iPad 2 is their screen sizes. Amazon's option comes in at 7 inches, while the iPad 2 features a 9.7-inch display. Those who want to be more mobile might like Amazon's screen, while those who want to read magazines or watch movies will prefer the iPad 2's bigger display.
Operating systems
The iPad 2 runs on the iOS 5 operating system. This operating system now has more than 90k of apps available for it. While the iPad 2 has dedicated apps, the operating system has no option for users to improve their own personal preferences. Basically, the OS is locked and that means you have to accept it just the way it is. The only thing that you can change is the amount of storage used or how you want to connect to the internet. The Kindle, on the other hand, uses the Android OS which gives the user the ability to customise it to their liking.
Data Storage
The data storage on the iPad 2 gives you the options of 16, 32 and 64 gigs. The Kindle leaves you with only 8 gigs of storage space and no option of extending the memory via a memory card or bigger internal hard drive. This is one problem that won’t sit well with people looking to save movies, music and other large files on to their Kindle Fire. The benefit that Amazon has here is that it has a huge database of free-to-stream movies and TV shows that are open to all their users. Certainly a plus, it was their initial objective, as it means people can use Amazons free streaming services instead of having to copy all their media manually.
Price
The iPad 2 is much more expensive than the Kindle Fire but considering the features we’re not surprised. For a bottom of the range iPad 2 you are looking to pay about $499 versus $199 for the Kindle Fire – for the Wi-Fi version of both. Of course the Kindle does not have a 3G version so we cannot compare the prices for those.
In conclusion, I feel that the iPad 2 and Kindle Fire are appealing to two different target markets. Amazon has a huge base of followers that will stay loyal to their brand and the Kindle Fire will still be a successful product because of that. If the plan was to challenge the iPad 2 then I don’t think the Kindle Fire has what it takes to stand up to the iPad 2 just yet.
Camera
If you don’t want to capture photos and don’t want to video chat with your friends, Kindle Fire is not a problem. But if you want a camera on your tablet, it will be a big disappointment. Possibly to keep the price tag at $199, Amazon didn’t include any camera in the device.
iPad 2, on the other hand, features both a front camera and a rear-facing camera. So if you love to snap photos and do video chats, the Apple tablet is the way to go.
Battery Life
The iPad 2 should last at least two hours longer than the Kindle, but taking into account all the things you can do with the iPad 2, you would expect it to last a bit longer than 10 hours.
Other Features
In terms of ram and processor speed, they are evenly matched at 512MB RAM and 1GHz Processing speed. The display on the iPad is 9.7 inches while the Kindle is 7 inches, sacrificing space for the keypad where the iPad 2 has an on screen keyboard. The weight of the Kindle Fire is 414g, versus the 601g of the iPad 2.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus vs Motorola Droid Razr

We saw a couple of big announcements in the Android world on the same day: Motorola’s new flagship Droid Razr and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Since Verizon customers at least may soon have to make a hard choice, we’ve put up a direct comparison between the two devices. Which one will reign supreme at the top of the Android heap?

Samsung Galaxy Nexus vs Motorola Droid Razr

Design:

Both the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the Motorola Droid Razr have a sleek profile, and are extremely slim. The Galaxy Nexus is only 8.9 mm thick and weighs 135 gms. The Droid RAZR is even slimmer, at just 7.1 mm, and is lighter at 127 gms.

Display:

The display is one of the best features of the Galaxy Nexus. It comes with a 4.65 inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, the highest resolution seen in smartphones to date.

The Motorola Droid Razr comes with a smaller 4.3 inch Super AMOLED display, with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels.

Processor:

Both phones have (nearly) identical processors, packing 1.2GHz with two cores. Both models are also Texas Instruments OMAP chips. The difference is that the Galaxy Nexus is powered by the 4460 model, next to the 4430 in the Razr. The Razr’s 4430 is the same CPU that is found in the Droid Bionic. The Nexus’ 4460, meanwhile, is capable of 1.5GHz speeds, so we will likely see some overclocked kernels for the Nexus coming out of the development community.

OS:

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus runs the latest version of Android – Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The Motorola Droid Razr will run Android 2.3 Gingerbread at launch, but is expected to get an upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich eventually.

Hardware:

Both the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the Motorola Droid RAZR come with similar hardware. They sport a 1.2 GHz TI OMAP dual core processor, and come with a PowerVR SGX 540 GPU. Both the phones offer 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage.

Camera:

Samsung Galaxy Nexus – 5 MP camera with autofocus and flash. Motorola Droid RAZR – 8 MP camera with autofocus and flash. Galaxy Nexus’ camera has 2592×1936 pixels resolution whereas Droid Razr can resolve up to 3264×2448 pixels. Both devices’ cameras have autofocus feature and LED flash.

Storage:

Samsung and Google appear to have their sights set firmly on the iPhone in the storage department. Like Apple, they opted to skip an SD card slot and offer the phone in 16GB and 32GB models (though the iPhone is now available in 64GB as well).

The Droid Razr, meanwhile, gets 16GB of internal storage as standard, but also adds an SD card slot.

Connectivity:

Both the phones are occupied with Wi-Fi and 3G. But Droid Razr beats Galaxy Nexus in this because it will be exclusively available on Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network. Droid Razr has Bluetooth 4.0 whereas Galaxy Nexus has Bluetooth 3.0 hence Droid Razr has the latest version of Bluetooth in it.

Battery Life:

Galaxy Nexus has 1750 mAh Li-Ion battery and Droid Razr has 1780 mAh battery with the standby of 204 hours and talk time of 12:30 hours.

Conclusion:

Both the phones are nearly same in specs and performance but Droid Razr might attract professionals because of its thinness. Camera is also considered to be an important part of the phone and it has better camera than Galaxy Nexus. The only thing where Galaxy Nexus dominates is its operating system. It has the latest version of Android OS 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) whereas the Droid Razr has version 2.3.5 (Gingerbread). So it is up to you which things you might prefer.

Suppose you have a cool Galaxy Nexus or Motorola Droid Razr, then, you may have an ideal to play video on Android Phone, but do you know how to import video to Galaxy Nexus for playback? If you have a video, now you get the Droid Razr and want to play video on Droid Razr, what will you do?

In fact, Galaxy Nexus and Motorola Droid Razr will supports video in MP4 video format. So the other video format which can not be natively accepted by the Galaxy Nexus and Motorola Droid Razr, However, Samsung Galaxy Nexus converter for mac and Motorola Droid Razr converter for mac have released to convert video including AVI, WMV, FLV, MOV, MPG, MKV, YouTube, DV to MP4 mac for playing on Galaxy Nexus and Motorola Droid Razr on Mac OS X Lion, Mac 10.7, Mac Snow Leopard, Mac 10.6 and Mac 10.5 operating system etc.

Which one is better, Kindle Fire or Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7?

The 7-inch Amazon Kindle Fire has been announced to be a good craic to slam its specs up against those of its key rivals. Of course, this has to include Apple’s peerless iPad 2, last article we have compare iPad 2 with Kindle Fire , now we’ve chosen to compare it with its new sibling the Galaxy Tab 7.7 because of its size.

First, Compare the spec of Kindle Fire and Galaxy Tab 7.7
1: Processor
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7: ARM Cortex-A9 processor with Samsung`s own chipset, the Exynos
The Kindle Fire: a dual-core processor with Texas Instruments OMAP chip and clocked at 1GHz

2: Screen resolution and size
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7: 800 x 1280, 7.7 inches
The Kindle Fire: 1024 x 600; 7 inches
3: Camera, photos and video
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7: a back 3MP camera with autofocus and LED flash plus a secondary front facing 2MP camera for video calls.
The Kindle Fire: no

4: Thickness and weight
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7: 7.74 x 5.24 x 0.31; 335grams
The Kindle Fire: 7.5 x 4.7 x 0.45; 413 grams

5: OS
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7: Android 3.2 Honeycomb
The Kindle Fire: Android 2.3 Gingerbread

6: Storage
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB
The Kindle Fire: 8 GB

Conclusion
Kindle Fire will only connect via Wi-Fi, with no 3G network, Bluetooth or GPS included. For a large array of connectivity elements, the Galaxy Tab 7.7` will satisfy all customers needs with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, 3G or Bluetooth 3.0.

Clearly, the Galaxy Tab 7.7` wins against Kindle Fire with its high-end specs. Probaly the Kindle Fire is outclassed with its lower RAM memory, the lack of a camera or a decent 8GB built-in storage memory. But it does have an afforable price, only $200, plus a dual-core, a bunch of apps to take into consideration.

Finally, both Galaxy Tab 7.7` and Kindle Fire only supports video in MP4 file formats, so if you want to play other video on them, you need to decode the video to MP4 formats first.

Kindle Fire video converter and Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 converter supports converting MOD, DV, MOV, AVCHD, TOD, 3GP, MKV, RMVB, AVI,WMV, FLV etc to MP4 to import convert video to Kindle Fire VS Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 for playback.

Watch or enjoy 1080p/720p video on Asus Transformer Prime

Taiwanese consumer electronics company Asus has been heavily teasing the impending release of its second-generation Transformer Android tablet, known as Transformer Prime. The company’s president Jonney Shih brought the tablet on stage for another quick look before its official November 9th debut.

The Transformer Prime has a 10″ screen, an 8.33mm thick chassis, and a laptop dock comparable to its predecessor; but of the features that we know so far, it will have one that makes it different from all the other tablets out there: a quad-core Nvidia Tegra processor. Shih also noted that the tablet will run the new Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS, which was designed for use in both phones and tablets.

Moving to the newer chip, as well as ASUS experience and competition with the iPad 2, has slimmed it down dramatically versus the original. The tablet itself now measures 8.3mm (0.33in) thick and its signature notebook add-on is both much thinner and reminiscent of the Zenbook’s MacBook Air-like design. ASUS claims a longer 14.5-hour battery, although that’s most likely with the extra battery of the dock. Mini HDMI, an SD card slot, and USB give it full expansion.

Other specifications on the Asus Transformer Prime include mini HDMI and a full USB port, it isn’t clear as yet which version of Android the Transformer Prime will run, it could possibly ship with Honeycomb, although Asus’s Jonney Shih said that Android Ice Cream Sandwich should be out on their existing devices by the end of the year or sooner, so it may ship with Android 4.0.

It isn’t known yet exactly when this device will hit store shelves and consumer hands, but I suspect we’ll get a firm date on November 9. It would be nice for ASUS if it was in time for the Christmas season, but they are rapidly running out of time.

Solution:

If you would like to play video on Asus Transformer Prime, you may need to convert video to Asus Transformer Prime on mac codec to enjoy and watch movies on the Asus Transformer Prime tablet. Import video to Motorola Droid Razr on mac

Motorola Mobility, once king of the cellphone business, has taken the wraps off its latest smartphone at a press event over in theUS, unveiling the “impossibly thin” Droid Razr with a 4.3-inch display on October 18th, 2011.

Motorola Droid Razr

It is thin

According to Motorola, Motorola Droid Razr is 7.1mm, and the company is touting the Droid Razr as “the world’s thinnest smartphone”, at least until the next one comes along.

The screen is awesome

For me, the screen was definitely one of the standout features on the device. The Super AMOLED Advanced qHD screen is beautiful. Without serious hands-on testing, it’s impossible to know how this compares to the iPhone 4/iPhone 4S, but this is easily the best looking Droid display yet. Compared to the Droid Bionic, which I recently reviewed, this device just oozes clarity and brightness.

Motorola touted that the Droid Razr will be the first phone to support streaming Netflix in HD. That’s great for movie fans — though we’re not sure about what difference will make in real-world usage.

Innards

The innards offer a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, complete with 1GB of RAM, and a 1800 mAh battery from which Moto promises 12.5 hours of talk time and near-enough 9 hours of video layback.

The camera, meanwhile, offers an 8MP sensor as well as being able to shoot 1080p video.

Despite all this, Motorola reckons the Droid Razr is “one of the lightest smartphones available today”.

Despite all this, Motorola reckons the Droid Razr is “one of the lightest smartphones available today”

Software

The Droid Razr runs Android 2.3 with what appears to be the same user interface as Motorola’s Droid Bionic. That includes the ability to send and receive files from a linked PC–the Razr’s version is called “Motocast,” as opposed to the Droid Bionic’s Zumocast app–and support for Motorola’s Webtop application, which runs a full version of Firefox on Motorola’s specialized laptop-like accessories that the company calls lapdocks. The first lapdock launched with the Motorola Atrix.

Battery Life

Motorola’s stuffed a 1,780 mAh battery into the Droid Razr, and claims that will give a user 12.5 hours of 3G talk time or 8.9 hours of video playback. No word on how long the phone will run using 4G LTE, which tends to drain a phone battery in a hurry. To help conserve battery power, the Droid Razr can perform automated actions such as turning off Bluetooth and GPS at home, or reduce display brightness and processor speed when the battery gets low. This system, dubbed “Smart Actions,” can supposedly boost battery life by 30 percent, according to Motorola.

Conclusion

The Motorola Droid Razr will be available for $299.99 in early November after a new two-year service agreement with Verizon Wireless. You can start to preorder the phone on October 27.

Instead of having HD video footage, you could convert your own video to common video files that can be played your Motorola Droid Razr phone. Let’s take look at what video formats that Droid RAZR supported:

Video Playback: MPEG4, H.263, H.264, WMV

Music Player: MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, WMA, WAV, AMR,MIDI

Review of Samsung Galaxy Nexus
Samsung Galaxy Nexus is the first Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich phone has been announced. It isn’t the most powerful Android phone around, but if you’re after a “pure” Android experience, unsullied by the likes of Samsung’s TouchWiz or HTC’s Sense interfaces, the Galaxy Nexus is a solid choice.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be available in November, and we know that O2 will definitely be offering it. Others(from Phones 4U):Galaxy Nexus will be offering the Galaxy Nexus free on £46/month contracts, and for £29.95 on a £41/month contract.

Compare Samsung Galaxy Nexus with others:
1: It has the same 1GB of system memory on board the handset as Galaxy S2 which is double the amount inside an iPhone 4S.
2: Its 4.65-inch Super AMOLED screen boasts 720p resolution is bigger than the 4.27-inch display found on the Galaxy S2 but smaller than the 5.3-inch Samsung Galaxy Note and 4.7-inch HTC Sensation XL.
3: The design language apes the previous Nexus S and Samsung Galaxy S2 with the lip at the bottom of the phone.
4: A button-less display may confuse some always looking to hit the Home key to get back to the main menu, but Google wanted to create a slick, edge-to-edge front to the phone.
5: The Galaxy Nexus shoots 1080p video, just like the iPhone 4S and Galaxy S2, and has a 5-megapixel rear camera with an LED flash.
6: The handset features a 1,750 mAh battery – far better than the 1,420 mAh unit in the iPhone 4S.
